"Ladies and Gentlemen. Introducing, Fast, Furious and Foaming at the mouth, Bold, Blue and Bitchin', it's the Pride of the Regents of the University of California, the Spirit of the Davis campus, the California Aggie Marching Band-uh!"

The California Aggie Marching Band-uh! is one of the proudest, most spirited, feared, and loved organizations on the UC Davis campus. We are committed to representing the University and supporting the UC Davis campus and athletic teams. Since its establishment in 1929, the Aggie Band has been an important part of campus spirit and tradition. Traditions have been passed down through generations of bandsmen, many of which continue today. The band is made up entirely of students who volunteer their time; no class credit, scholarship, or pay is provided to any of our over 200 members.

The Cal Aggie Band is one of the few completely student-run marching bands in the country. A council of twelve student officers conduct rehearsals, create shows, schedule performances, manage the budget, coordinate travel, repair instruments and uniforms, maintain the music library, and represent the band. Our student officers are elected by their peers and are entrusted with the authority to make critical decisions and policy for the band. Serving on the officers' council offers members the opportunity to gain valuable leadership and real-world decision making experience. We have one faculty director who advises the officers' council and conducts the band at some public events. We are proud of our student-run status and believe that it is an important part of what makes our organization unique.

Marching In at Picnic Day

The band entertains thousands of spectators at well over 100 performances each year with our combination of traditional and contemporary rock music. During the fall, members perform at all home and away football games, no matter how far away. In the winter, we attend all men's and women's basketball games. The first few weeks of spring are dedicated to preparing for Picnic Day, an annual campus event. During Picnic Day, the band performs a dazzling street show and marches in the parade (twice). We also host the popular "Battle of the Bands"; an endurance contest which typically includes the Stanford, Cal, Humboldt State, and UC San Diego bands and usually lasts well into the night. The band stays active year-round performing in its unique high-spirited, high-stepping, arm-swinging style at countless venues throughout the state.

Far and wide, many have tried. None have done it better.
